This painting was created for Gender Terror, a website devoted to queer horror made by queer creators. My piece depicts a non-binary mummy rising from their tomb, upset at the archaeologists who misgendered them. Talking to a person about your preferred pronouns can be far more daunting than an undead mummy. But having this discussion can be an immensely empowering experience (as long as you’re in a safe environment to do so).
